our nation's glorified space tourist

1st of all, i do not give a hoot abt whut wikipedia states.

to me, our so called angkasawan are NOT, I REPEAT NOT astronauts.
the term astronauts should be reserved for ppl who dedicate their lives to the science of space, and the universe.

the malay bugger that was sent to space is a space tourist.
a glorified one, i must insist.

first of all, let us understand the term space tourism.

Space tourism is the recent phenomenon of individuals paying for space travel, primarily for personal satisfaction.
in our country's case, the only ppl that get satisfaction frm this is the ppl that do not understand a thing and of course the politicians.
if u visit xw's
blog, u will be able to understand how utterly useless the politicians
are and how their jobs can be easily filled in by a 4 yr oldmuslim child.

this is whut our great and brilliant 'angkasawan' went to space to do.
# Experiment Code Description
1 Cells in Space CIS Study of the effects of microgravity and space radiation on eukaryotic cells focusing on changes in the structure and function at the cellular and molecular levels
2 Microbes in Space MIS
Study of the effects of microgravity on motility of bacteria, drug
resistances as well as changes in gene expression (using themicroarray approach). Expect to show some effects of bacterial growth using a pre-determined minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC).
3 Protein Crystallisation in Space PCS The purpose of this experiment is to compare the crystal growth of lipases
on Earth with that grown in microgravity. Several test conditions will
also be tested to improve the protein crystallisation process on Earth
as well as in space.
4 Malaysian Food in Space FIS Increase the
variety and quality of food available to space travelers by identifying
new food items (specifically typical Malaysian dishes) that are
appropriate for consumption during space flight.
5 Study of spinning
motions in microgravity environment TOP A physics demonstration to show
the effect of microgravity on the motions of spinning object using a
top.
6 PR and Symbolics PAS PR and Symbolics activities.

malaysian food in space. forgive me for being curious but how the fuck is this going to benefit anyone?
and i did a little research. all the little experiments that were conducted by our angkasawan had already been conducted 20+ yrs ago. again, how is dis gonna benefit anyone?

On November 15, 2006, in a response to a question in the Dewan Rakyat, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry parliamentary secretary Datuk Rohani
Abdul Karim (representing the Science, Technology and Innovation
Ministry) stated that the Malaysian astronaut would, "spin top and toss
BatuSeremban (five-stone game) as part of an experiment during his space travel".

ONLY IN MALAYSIA.

it is estimated, that out country used rm105million on the angkasawan project.
it might be more. think 135mil.
just so everyone knows, in out budget 2007, the government only spent 49mil on the visit malaysia thing.
i need not say anymore.

just when u thought country cudnt waste anymore time & money on this project....
Since Sheikh Muszaphar
is a Muslim, and as his time in space coincided with the last part of
Ramadan, the Islamic National Fatwa Council drew up the first
comprehensive guidebook for Muslims in space.[1][3] The 18-page
guidebook is titled "Guidelines for Performing Islamic Rites (Ibadah)
at the International Space Station", and details issues such as how to
pray in a low-gravity environment, how to locate Mecca from theISS, how to determine prayer times, and issues surrounding fasting. The orbit of the ISS
results in one day/night cycle every 90 minutes,[1][25] so the issues
of fasting during Ramadan are also addressed. The guidebook will be
translated into Russian, Arabic, and English.[7][26]Anan C. Mohd, from Malaysia's Department of Islamic Development said that fasting while traveling is optional, so Sheikh Muszaphar could choose what he would like to do, but if he did decide to fast in space, the times would be centered around local time in Baikonur, where the launch takes place.[27][28] Sheikh Muszaphar celebrated Eid ul-Fitr
aboard the station, and packed some satay and cookies to hand out to
the rest of the crew on October 13, 2007 to mark the end of Ramadan.[29]

ONLY IN MALAYSIA.

sincerely, TjChuen

P.S did anyone realise that all the candidates for the angkasawan project are malay?
